At La Jangada. we work with many Indigenous communities on the banks of the Amazon River. Each one has its own particularities that its people will teach you in the best possible way, whether it is by sharing the ancestral knowledge of the Cocama ethnic group. participating in the initiative of conservation the fauna and flora of the Maikuchiga monkey sanctuary. or being part of the life of the Tikuna people.
This tour is the most customizable of all. It is possible to remove or add any activity depending on what you feel like.

( The Cocama ethnia and its ancestral knowledge)
In this experience you will be able to support conservation a process with the Curuinsi Huasi association, the house of the ant. This small community family surrounded by açal plants is the ideal place to have a first hand contact with the Cocama ethnic group, who traditionally have healed bodies and souls with medicinal plants.
Whether it is by camping in the old forest. by sleeping in the community, or even on a beach in the middle of the Amazon River. you can participate in the process of reforestation, monitoring or even release of endangered river turtles
(only in low water season). You will be able to taste authentic Amazonian flavors, from harvested fruits to your own fishing, and you will have the possibility to go on night safaris, dolphin watching. medicinal plant recognition or wildlife watching.
We assure you that with this experience you will be able to contribute your grain of sand to preserve the jungle and the traditional knowledge of the Cocama ethnic group.

Tour description
(Artisanal Macedonia and Maikuchiga sanctuary)
Ideal for single travelers or couples, this tour will allow you to get to know the community of Macedonia, recognized for its quality craftsmanship.
In two or three days, depending on your choice, you will be able to compare two types of Amazonian ecosystems: the terra firme forest and the várzea or flooded forest. On Mocagua Island, right in front of the community and in the middle of the Amazon River, you will discover the wild flooded forest, with its lakes full of mythical animals, while fishing and trying to observe river dolphins. In contrast, the terra firme forest is hilly and you can observe large trees, palms and of course the family chagras where the community plants their food: from pineapple and yucca to banana and cocoa. Hand in hand with the warm host family, you will be able to do handicraft workshops and taste the
Amazonian Indigenous gastronomy.
At the Maikuchiga monkey sanctuary. you can support an initiative for the conservation and recovery of native fauna.

Who better than a guide who lives in Puerto Nariño to discover this beautiful and curious Amazonian municipality, where there are no cars in the streets? The town inhabited mainly by indigenous people of the Tikuna ethnic group has a very special charm. an oasis of civilization in the middle of the jungle.
The surrounding area also has thousand wonders to be explored which will give you а very complete vision of the region. A short walk will take you to nature reserve where you can meet the pirarucu, the largest freshwater fish. Right next to it, the famous Tarapoto Lake awaits you for a nice boat ride. a refreshing swim in its natural waters, and maybe you will be treated to the spectacle of pink dolphins. unique in the world. Crossing the mythical Amazon River, you will reach the Peruvian side where you can observe many sloths in their natural environment. At night, a herd of friendly monkeys will welcome you in comfortable cabins where you will enjoy a well-deserved rest.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can also go into the jungle and even dare to take a night walk and a camping trip in the middle of the virgin forest, where you will learn how to set up your hammock with an experienced guide.
